New Depot Buildings Installed at Chickenhall as Depot Improvement Programme Moves Forward
Category: News, People
Introduction
The new facilities include a main modular office designed to accommodate around 15 people, alongside a separate smaller unit that will be used as a meeting, one-to-one and training space. The investment replaces temporary arrangements that had previously seen teams working from site containers and gives colleagues a more practical, comfortable and modern base to work from.
The Chickenhall WWTW upgrade forms part of a broader strategy to rejuvenate depot environments that, in many cases, have not seen significant investment for around 15 years. Delivered in conjunction with Southern Water, the programme is helping modernise the sites Cappagh Browne operates from and align them more closely with the scale and standard of work required across the business.
The new modular buildings have been designed with both functionality and day-to-day wellbeing in mind. Features include full insulation, double glazed windows, ventilation, air conditioning and kitchenette facilities, helping create a far better working environment for office-based teams. The units also incorporate cloud-based internet connectivity and wall-mounted screens to support performance monitoring, including Samsara data.

The next phase at our Eastleigh depot will see the surrounding area improved further, including the installation of picnic benches and electric vehicle charging points. Existing buildings on site will also be repurposed to create better break room and meeting space for colleagues.
The investment also links to Cappagh Browne’s wider fleet and carbon reduction plans, with charging infrastructure being introduced across depots to support new plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles entering the business. Chickenhall is the first site to benefit from the new office rollout, with further improvements planned at other depots, including Horsham.
